Hong Kong, "Fragrant Harbor," is this and so much more.
Hong Kong Island itself is beautifully nestled against the steep hillsides of Victoria Peak and looks out across the water to Kowloon and mainland China beyond.
There are several islands and parts of the mainland that make up Hong Kong.
My first visit to Hong Kong was in 1991 when it was still under British rule. My next visit was in 1998 soon after it had been returned to China.
My most recent visit was in 2020 when there was demonstrations and rioting against the present Chinese government.
Hong Kong is a concentrated laboratory of East meets West... and I always find it a great place to visit.
